Obituary for Ted V. Smith
Ted V. Smith passed away peacefully at home with his loving and devoted wife Marjean at his side on March 10, 2017. Born to Virgil and Nelva Smith on June 6, 1943, he spent all of his life in Reno. Ted attended Huffaker Elementary School, Vaughn Middle School, and finally Bishop Manogue Catholic High School, where he graduated in 1962. In high school Ted played football, basketball, and ran in track events. As an adult, he was very involved in soccer with his sons.
Ted was known for his great enthusiasm for the outdoors. He enjoyed hiking, riding his street bike, camping, fishing, motor boating, sailing, and 4-wheeling in his jeep. He was also an excellent snow skier. Ted dearly loved his four boys, and his precious 17 year old pit bull, Molly.
Ted attended the University of Nevada Reno, and was a veteran of the Nevada Air National Guard. He was an entrepreneur, involved in the construction and mining industries, and was an active member of the Prospector’s Club for many years.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Nelva Smith. He is survived by his wife and soul mate Marjean, brother, Dennis (Nina) Smith, and sons Lance, Tyler, Travis, and Casey. He was also blessed with grandchildren Cody, Connor, and Haylee.
Services will be held at 11:00 am, viewing at 10:30 am, Monday, March 20, 2017 at Walton’s Funeral Home located at 875 W. 2nd St., Reno, Nevada. Reception immediately following the service.
