Marjorie J. Noonen

Marjorie J. Noonen, nee Murray, died in Reno, Nevada on March 20, 2018, surrounded by loving family. Marjorie was born in Denver on April 20, 1938 to John and Isabel Murray.

She attended Blessed Sacrament School, Cathedral High School, and Loretto Heights College, where she majored in nursing. She left nursing to marry Michael Noonen and start a family, and together they raised four boys (Michael, Martin, Matthew, Mark) while also giving birth to a beloved daughter (Maureen) who died just after childbirth in 1965. She later returned to work at May D&F, Foley’s and Macy’s, where she worked tirelessly for almost a quarter-century until her well-deserved retirement in 2007.

Marjorie was a devout Catholic, loving daughter to her parents, caring sibling to her three sisters (Virginia and Ann who preceded her in death and her younger sister Bernadette who survives her), and devoted mother to her four sons. In 2014, after spending her first 75 years in Denver and making myriad life-long friends there, Marjorie moved to Reno to be closer to family.

Marjorie is survived by her younger sister, four sons, three daughters-in-law (Betsy, Kimberly, Joanna), five cherished grandchildren (Thomas, Isabella, Luke, Meradith, Nicholas), and two grandpuppies (Lulu and Ellie, although her favorite will always be Murphy the sheepdog).

Marjorie’s funeral will be held on April 7 at 12:00 noon at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church in Reno, and she will subsequently be buried next to Maureen at Mt. Olivet cemetery in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. In lieu of flowers or donations, Marjorie would surely appreciate that you simply say a prayer for her and her family.
