Gerald "Jerry" Coffman
Gerald “Jerry” Coffman passed away peacefully on May 12, 2018. Born in Austin, Minnesota to Elizabeth and Henry Coffman on July 24, 1932. Gerald is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Edra Coffman. He is survived by son Douglas Coffman, daughter, Lesley Stevenson, grandchildren, Kyle Coffman, Jacob Stevenson, Jennifer Marshman, great-grandchildren Emily Marshman, Ava Marshman, Sloane Stevenson; brothers, Dwane Coffman, Maynard Coffman and sister, Lucretia Thompson.
He served in USAF for 4 years. He attended UNR in the business field for 3 years. He founded Mill Street Tire of Reno in 1966 and built a successful business. Gerald had a zest for life and adventure. He enjoyed many years of fishing & camping with his children and grandchildren at Eagle Lake, Ca, skiing, golfing & church choir. He had an unmistakable love and commitment to his family; children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He had an immense love for music and founded “Ridin with the Wind” country western band. He enjoyed his woodshop in his home where he built and designed solid wood furniture. He built the altar, lectern and baptismal font for the St. Robert Catholic church in Fernley, NV. He enjoyed many years of deer hunting and guiding at the Cottonwood Ranch in rural Nevada and was a loyal UNR Football fan. He will be forever missed by all who had the opportunity to know him.
Funeral services will be held at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church on June 14th at 10:00 am, Military Honors will be performed June 15 at 2:30 pm at Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley, NV.
